South Camden Theatre Company, now producing its 8th season of thought provoking theatre at our new Waterfront South Theatre in Camden, NJ announces its open call for its “Staged Reading Series”. Please forward a synopsis, character breakdown and how the play meets SCTC’s mission to info@southcamdentheatre.org, Attention: Susan Paschkes. Do not send full plays. Susan will directly email selected playwrights. A director will be assigned from SCTC upon play’s selection.
As a playwright founded and led company there is not an entry fee at SCTC. All selected plays will be considered for future development although a production by SCTC is not guaranteed.
Deadline for submission is March 30, 2013.
South Camden Theatre Company hosts staged readings of new works.
Staged readings are FREE and open to the public. Audience feedback and comments will help to shape the new play into one that can "take the stage".
For those of you who may not be familiar with staged readings, they are a large part of the development of a new play and we hope to bring many plays to you in this forum. Actors perform the play with minimal rehearsal and read with "script in hand" so it can be heard by the audience, playwright and director for the first time as they receive feedback on the new work.
We invite you to join us for an unique experience as we allow our audience members to engage with theatre in a new way and have a part in the development of a new American play.
