Let us take you back to 1968-1988 in Camden, NJ. The scene is set in a Polish men ’s club and shows the effect of the changing city, on friendships and the racial tensions that were brought to the surface.
PAST PRODUCTIONS
Memory is a funny and wonderful thing. INDOOR PICNIC is my second play set in Camden, Memory allows me to revisit the past and recreate the wonderful people and events from my youth. Among these memories are the pleasant as well as unpleasant. As a writer, I am able to mesh them all together within the fabric of a play. INDOOR PICNIC weaves my memories back together and, most importantly, restores life to loved ones long gone but not forgotten. These were special times, and by bringing them alive on stage it allows us all to not only remember the past, but also learn for the future.
The brand new WATERFRONT SOUTH THEATRE across the street in the old Walt's Cafe is now taking shape with endless thanks to Helene Pierson and everyone at Heart of Camden. We hope to open next season in our brand new theatre right here in Camden...with your help. Memories again … bringing new life to my grandfathers old, boarded up business - where we hope to make new memories. It ’s gratifying and makes all of our work even more enjoyable. Thanks to Father Doyle, Nicole, an incredible cast and crew, and so many others for helping to bring this world of memories back to life. But tonight, my most special thanks go out to my father and his friends for all of the memories that I have of growing up in this wonderful city. Please....enjoy the play, enjoy the memories
